We have a document that we expect all chidren and their parents to sign when they join St. Michael's. This was written following consultation with governors, staff, parents and pupils. The text of the document is as follows:

Teachers at St Michael’s School will ensure they:

  • feed back to you on your child’s progress at open evenings and in end of year reports;
  • support your child’s individual learning needs;
  • provide a range of learning activities for your child;
  • provide a safe environment;
  • work in partnership with you to ensure the progress, welfare and support of your child;
  • inform you how to help your child at home.

In return we expect each family to:

  • ensure your child attends school regularly;
  • avoid taking holidays in term time;
  • inform the school when children are absent due to illness;
  • support the school policies in relation to discipline and behaviour;
  • attend Open Evenings and other school based activities;
  • support your child in their homework activities;
  • contact the school at the earliest opportunity with any concerns or worries;
  • commit to working with the school to resolve any concerns;
  • make sure children arrive at school on time, appropriately dressed and ready to learn;
  • consider the implications of posting inappropriate details on Social Network sites and the effect inappropriate comments can have on individuals and the school as a whole;
  • support the school’s approach to e-safety which includes not uploading or posting on the internet any pictures, video or text featuring children without prior consent of the school, parent or carer.

Children will:

  • be polite and respectful of other adults and children;
  • keep the school rules;
  • try their best and join in with everything the school offers;
  • respect and care for our school environment.
